About the Images

The inspirition for these pictures was a splendid exhibition of Asian textiles at the Spencer Museum of Art on the campus of the University of Kansas.  The forms, colors, patterns and textures of the garments, wraps, and hangings became the subject matter for the work shown here.  These elements also show up in work I've done on other themes.  For instance, the Art and Science series contains references to some of the Indian and Japanese fabrics that were in the exhibition.  They seem to add a richness everywhere I use them.
